How do I apply for a job, and where do I go?
The University of Michigan and UMHS both have an easy-to-use, automated application process.

There is a job search module on nearly every page of this site, that allows you to quickly search for jobs within the Health System, by keyword, area of specialty or other criteria.

For jobs at the University of Michigan, outside of the health system, we recommend you visit www.umjobs.org for complete details.

Those seeking temporary positions can stop by Wolverine Tower on State Street in Ann Arbor, for more information, or visit www.hr.umich.edu/temps .View directions.
Does the University require pre-employment testing? What is the process?
Pre-Employment Program (PEP) testing is held for certain entry-level positions at UMHS, mainly Office/Clerical, Service Maintenance and Entry Level Allied Health. Selected candidates will receive notification if/when screening is required.

For more information on PEP, visit
http://www.med.umich.edu/umhshr/supervisor/pep.htm now.
Where do you currently have openings? How often should I check for newly posted positions?
Our careers web site provides a comprehensive list of all jobs currently available with UMHS. New positions become available frequently, and our database is updated regularly.

We recommend you bookmark our site, and check back often for newly posted positions. Also, by subscribing to our RSS Feeds, you can have the latest opportunities sent directly to you via the Web.
Is it possible to have an employment application faxed to me?
No, we no longer have a paper application. Please visit www.umjobs.org to search and apply for open positions with us.
I applied for a position, but I am not sure that my application was accepted. What happens next?
If you successfully applied for a position, you will receive a notification immediately from the system that we have received your application materials. You will also receive notification when a job has been filled, so be sure to watch your e-mail for important updates regarding all of the jobs you have applied for at UMHS.
I applied for a position a while ago and have not heard anything. What should I do?
The University of Michigan Health System has seen a big increase in applicant volume recently. This, in turn, does create some delays in the review process for our open positions. It may take several weeks for a manager to review your resume and information and begin contact with qualified candidates. However, rest assured that if the hiring manager identifies you as a qualified for the position, you will be contacted.
Do I need to provide a cover letter with my application/resume?
If the job requires a cover letter, it should be included in your application materials. You can only attach one document for each job, so be sure that your cover letter and resume are combined into one document.
